Morning Routine for a Happier, Healthier Day!

Hello my KG babes! We are one week away from Thanksgiving HOLLA! A beautiful time of gratitude and pumpkin pie! I hope you all are looking forward to eating good and spending time with loved ones. In this time of gratitude, I wanted to share with you guys a practice I do daily to express my appreciation for all the blessings I have in my life. The practice I’m going to share truly contributes to a wholesome mental health for me & starts my day off on such a positive note. With that, I would love to share with you some other tips & practices to do on a daily basis for maintaining a healthy mental game. So lets dive into my morning routine that sets me up each and every day for a happy, healthy day.

Every morning when I wake up, I start my day with the practice of a gratitude list. This is simply a list of approximately 10 items that I am grateful for. The best way to do it, I recommend, is to embark on this practice with a friend or family member who can hold you accountable each day. Plus, when you both send one another your list, or maybe you even discuss it in person, it feels so good to share in all the gratitude you both have. The list goes beyond simply stating “1. Coffee 2. Friends 3. A bed.” Rather, an item on the list would read something like this, “Today I am grateful for: 1. My friend, Elizabeth. I am blessed to have her as a friend in the good times and the bad. I am so thankful she was there to talk me through the hard time I was going through last night.” Another example would be “Today I am grateful for: 1. The sunshine. I am so blessed to live in a place that radiates positivity and gives my body warmth!” It is super important to think and reflect on what you are grateful for and why, in addition to recognizing how truly lucky we are to have all that we do. Starting your day with a list of gratitude sets you up for a day of positivity. There may be difficult times and hard problems to deal with but instead of waking up and sulking, starting with a positive list of appreciation allows you to look at the big picture of life, how blessed you are, and potentially even how miniscule the problem is you might be going through. Nonetheless, it sets the tone to have a positive day each and every day you practice this gratitude. & Best of all, gratitude is known to be the gateway drug for happiness. The more you appreciate what you have in life, the more the universe will provide you with happiness and good. LAW OF ATTRACTION BABY!

Okay so tip number 2! Exercise, exercise, exercise! Exercise is one of the absolute best ways to clear your head. Every morning I start with a run. It gets my body moving, wakes me up, and gives me time to just think and reflect. I am not the kind of person who runs with headphones in; rather I enjoy being out in nature and soaking in the scenery. Whether you go for a run, hop on the bike for a ride, or even just go take a short walk around the block, I believe it is super important to start your day off with a little exercise to stimulate the brain. Most people believe exercise only relates to physical health, but it truly aids in mental health even more. So get out the door in the mornings & stimulate that brain of yours. Your endorphins will kick in & lead you to feeling lighter and happier in no time!

& For my final piece of my morning routine, meditation! I love finishing my runs at the beach and just sitting right in front of ocean to soak in all the peace and tranquility it has to offer. A lot of people have a hard time getting themselves to focus or relax during mediation but here is some helpful tips!! First off, be sure to sit somewhere that makes you feel peace; you don’t want to sit in your bedroom if that the same place your work desk is at and it brings you stress. Go to the beach or a state park or your living room & light some candles. Secondly, I recommend mediating in the am before all your other thoughts turn on and consume your day. Before you even let them enter your headspace, take time to settle down, reflect, and meditate. Third, don’t overthink mediation. Mediation is simply sitting still and focusing on your breath. Pay attention to the way air flows in through your nose, through your body, and out your mouth. That’s all you need to do, simply focus on your breath! Another helpful tip I have is that if your mind starts to wonder, have a single word you recite over and over to bring you back such as “Peace, peace, peace” or “Breathe, breathe, breathe.” It’s as simple as that!

And there you guys have it! That is my morning routine that sets me up to have a peaceful, happy day! The stone I want to recommend is Blue Lace Agate. It is a water element stone that aids in calming and relaxation. The stone is associated with your throat chakra as well; therefore it can help you in communicating and voicing your gratitude as you start your lists! Alright, time to get excited for Thanksgiving guys!

Thanks for reading J
